There are a few things you can do to increase the chance of a successful recovery and you've already got a good start by looking online for a service such as ours. Next, I would highly recommend that you DO NOT place a lost ad on Craigslist. Why? Since the price of Gold has skyrocketed over the years, metal detecting has become a very popular hobby, and there are many, many people out searching everyday. By placing an ad, you're actually reducing your chance of getting your item back, as every "hobbyist" will be searching for your item and they may not be interested in returning it to you. However do check the lost and found section of Craigslist, as some of us will post ads when we find something of value. Finally, if you lost something in the sand, try not to disturb the area as much as possible. Heavy items such as gold jewelry will sink as soon as it's dropped and will settle deeper and deeper as the sand is moved making it harder to find. The most important thing if you lost something on the beach or especially in the water, is to know the location. Make note of any landmarks, trees, rocks or whatever is nearby so you'll be able to show us the location. The more accurate the location, the less time it will take us to recover your item.
